Soldier_Horse-editIFEAL Qualifications for Equine Facilitated Human Development and Learning is an interdisciplinary vocational education for medical and mental health professionals, educators, equine professionals, health and well-being practitioners and all business professionals who want to professionally master the art of employing horses in the field of human development. All qualifications independently assured by Edexcel and enable membership to Standards for Assisted and Facilitated Equine Professionals (SAFE Professionals). The trainings are an evidence based bio-psycho-social approach of the theoretical methodology and outcomes of Equine Facilitated Human Development and Learning (EFHDL) which is now recognised as a defined psychological field of science.

To be a competent in Equine Facilitation involves attaining a level of proficiency in four key areas: (i) psychology: the psychological principles behind human growth and development; (ii) Horse psychology and horsemanship skills; (iii) EFHDL: the tools, techniques and application of working with horses as partners in the process of human growth; and  (iiii) continuing personal growth: integrating your own learning into the way you offer the work. IFEAL Qualifications (IFEAL Q) currently is the only organisation to offer Equine Facilitator training courses that blends these four disciplines together into a powerful training modality for facilitating human growth and change offered at internationally recognised qualification levels.

Course Outline

The programmes are delivered on site as 5 day modules. Between each module there are seminars and trainees will have assignments to complete with mentoring and supervision by Sun Tui, Dr Barbara Murray and Shelley Carr. Additionally there are opportunities for private sessions with Kathleen Barry Ingram, co-founder of The Epona Approach and EponaQuest Apprenticeship programme. The IFEAL Q training programmes are offered over three stages, at the end of each stage you will gain a qualification. This means that it is possible to only take the first stage and become an Equine Facilitator, or take the first and second stages to achieve a Level 6 Diploma (equivalent to Degree level). For those that wish to complete all 3 stages we are working towards the development of a Level 7 (equivalent to Masters level) programme – we will post more information on this as it becomes available.

Students are able to work with clients and are eligible for professional insurance, after completion of their first year of training.

IFEAL’s programmes have been designed to offer you a clear methodology for EFHDL practice, leading to a pathway that helps you establish your (next) professional career aspirations and goals. You can then work towards these in a stepwise manner according to your specific personal and financial needs.
